PROJECTS
Fellowship .. good times .. meeting people .. building

leadership and personal development - these are just some of the good things
about being a member of the Waverley Lions Club.
The motto of every member is simply "we serve" and
Waverley Lions seek to put this statement into action. The club manages a number of
ongoing and short term projects as well as supporting other clubs and community
bodies throughout the year.

The club raises much needed funds through its Opportunity
Shop and other activities such as Raffles, BBQs, Shopping Centre Spinning Wheels,
Social functions, Xmas cake
sales, and Lions mint sales.

The Semorishi
Project
Lion Mary Mahloko-Boardman, husband Lion
Ken and children Naledi and Sereto visited South Africa in May -June 2010 to
present a cheque to the school principal at Mary's home village Semorishi to
finance the building of a school library. The family also attended several
of the World Cup matches. |

The
former School Principal,
Mr
Mokoka now retired (he
received the first donation
cheque a few years
ago...and also taught Mary when she went to
school there) Mary of course is in the
middle and the new Principal Mr.
Setati is on the
right. The
cheque converted from $6000 AUD to around
ZAR37,701 Sth
African Rand.

The School
Library Building foundation has been poured
and as you can see from the photos, the
bricks have arrived. The builder has hired a
couple of bricklayers to assist him.
