Our Club
The Club is a member of
District 201 V5. It was chartered in 1961 by the Lions
Club of Dandenong as the 204th club in Australia. The club meets at the Wheelers
Hill International in Jells Road Wheelers Hill from
7.00 pm on the first and third Thursday each month - Business and Dinner
meetings respectively. Board meetings are held at
the Lionsville Senior Citizens' Village in Ashwood.
New members, other Lions, friends of Lions and visitors are always
welcome. Meetings are filled with fun and fellowship but the club's attention is
focussed very much on community service.
Major ongoing club projects include the management of a
wholly owned
Opportunity Shop in Mount Waverley, ongoing support for Waverley Emergency
Adolescent Care (WEAC) in the City of Monash and supporting the management of
"Lionsville" - an incorporated elderly citizens' village in Ashwood,.
Cord Blood is a club project started in 1996 that has
blossomed into a highly significant national project.
The club is currently involved in 'grass roots' projects
including shopping centre BBQs and Spinning Wheel fund raising activities.
Waverley Lions is proud of its record of service as a
large and successful club in District 201 V5. The club sponsors a branch club -
Ashwood-Mount Waverley - that meets at Lionsville.
In 2011 the club will celebrate its
fiftieth birthday - 1961 - 2011
